The Reality of Placements in Top Engineering Colleges in Telangana?
Are placements in Top 10 Engineering Colleges in Hyderabad, Telangana having 100 percent placements?
Well, it would be great if colleges accomplished 100 percent placements. However, it is about how many people signed up for placements, and how many are placed. Even if you look at NIRF ranking data, you would understand that students choose to go for higher education and other options. So, it is logical for colleges to present a placement report based on the people signed for it. And, if they consider total intake then the percentage may not be 100 percent. So, read the data carefully.
Are placements assured if you choose a Top Engineering Colleges in Telangana?
Students who look at placements as a critical factor for admission, at times, forget that what you make yourself in those 4 years impacts your internship or final selection. A student with a 98 percentile at the time of entrance, may not get a job offer if he doesn’t acquire the required knowledge or communication skills. Also, In my interaction with the placement cell of a top engineering college in Telangana, I was told that students declined to sit for interviews because of packages or roles of interest because they were comparing with the previous year’s offers. Now, that wouldn’t work in a recession year. It is a competitive world out there. The value of your resume, your performance and the current cycle of the job market affects it.
Is placement the sole responsibility of the college management?
College training placement teams play a significant role in inviting companies for placements. In some colleges, students actively participate in sharing the responsibilities of the placement staff. It is very challenging to convince the companies to come for placements, also companies would want a good number of students with their requirements to actually visit. Sometimes, they need to be smart enough to invite the companies in the right order, as a few companies may not be happy if they are not invited first. You may at times not see some top companies in some colleges, while you see in others. It could be because of a date clash and the pool of students available to sit for interviews. Placement departments have to manage all these.
They also mentor or train students with the required skills to perform in the interview. Companies need skilled students.
The success stories matter too. While I was at NITW, I remember we were told that if we performed better in the companies that we got selected, then they would be showing more interest in coming next year. A proven place is a good source to find recruits.
Great efforts and good students attract more companies. So, it is a mutual responsibility.
Will there be any eligibility for placements in Top Engineering Colleges in Hyderabad, Telangana?
The companies have the right to set the eligibility criteria. Placement teams try to negotiate the conditions, but it is up to companies to yield. Academic performance and percentages would matter. The branch or course of students who could sit for the interview is also decided by the companies in another aspect.
Should I choose the college that achieved the highest pay package in placements from Top 10 Engineering colleges in Hyderabad Telangana?
You can, if you are going to work rigorously to accomplish the same. However, the highest package could be a National or International offer. There is a possibility of forex conversions playing a role. Try to understand what made that child achieve or demand such an offer. That gives you an idea on what you need to do in the engineering college. You need to understand the jargon of placement numbers properly.
Placement reports in Top 10 Engineering colleges in Telangana – do they matter?
Do look into the details of the placement report, not just the current year but the previous one too. Sometimes, due to recession placements may not be great. And if a college does great in such a scenario then it is awesome.
Look into the companies that come, the roles they offer and also placements across branches. For non IT branch students, do check if core companies visit.
The highest pay package may be achieved by selecting a few students. So, do look into Median salary which gives you a better understanding. Most colleges mention Average pay, some do mention lowest pay. A college of your choice may not match others in the highest package, but check department wise placement percentages if before you make an opinion about it.
Placement Jargon to observe in Top Engineering Colleges
1. Average Pay (Average CTC):
The arithmetic mean of all salary packages offered to students who got placed. However, we need to be cautious with this number as it may be skewed upwards by very high packages (outliers).
Example: If 3 students receive ₹10 LPA, ₹15 LPA, and ₹20 LPA, the average CTC is ₹15 LPA.
2. Highest Pay (Highest CTC):
The topmost salary package offered in the current placement season for an institute. It may not be cash received in hand. It could be CTC.
It may include bonuses, allowances, stock options, etc. May include international offers, which are usually much higher than domestic ones.
3. Median Pay (Median CTC):
The middle salary when all packages are arranged from lowest to highest. It is less affected by outliers (unlike average). Gives a better sense of what a typical student can earn.
Example: If 5 students get ₹8, ₹10, ₹12, ₹14, and ₹50 LPA, the median is ₹12 LPA, even though the average is ₹18.8 LPA.
4. CTC (Cost to Company):
The total annual cost incurred by the employer on an employee. The Components include Fixed pay (basic salary + allowances), Variable pay (performance bonuses, incentives), Perks/Benefits (insurance, stock options, joining bonuses, etc.) CTC is not equal to in-hand salary (take-home pay is usually much lower).
5. Domestic Offers vs International Offers
Domestic Salary packages offered for jobs located within India are reported in LPA (Lakhs per Annum). International Offers where the job location is outside India (e.g., USA, Japan, Europe) is reported in the currency of the country, but often converted to ₹ (using exchange rates).
