VITEEE 2025: Engineering Entrance Exam Details
The Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is conducted for admission into undergraduate engineering programs at VIT institutions. The exam is scheduled to take place between April 21 and April 27, 2025 (tentatively) across designated test centers in India and abroad. The duration of the test schedule will depend on the location.
Exam Structure and Pattern
- The duration of the exam is 2 hrs and 30 mins.
- Each candidate is allowed only one attempt at VITEEE.
- The test consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), where each correct answer carries one mark, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
- Candidates who score zero in total will be
- considered “Not Qualified” and will not be eligible for the counseling process.
- The paper comprises 125 questions distributed as follows:
- Mathematics/Biology: 40 questions
- Physics: 35 questions
- Chemistry: 35 questions
- Aptitude: 10 questions
- English: 5 questions
- The exam will be conducted only in English.
- The ranking is determined using the equi-percentile method in the Computer-Based Examination.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
- Applicants must be Indian Residents, Non-Resident Indians (NRI), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO).
- NRI candidates can apply through the NRI category application form (to be released soon).
- Foreign nationals who have studied abroad must apply using the International category application form (to be released soon).
Age Limit
- Eligible candidates must have a date of birth on or after July 1, 2003.
- The date of birth mentioned in the Class 10/SSC/X certificate will be considered final.
- If candidates fail to present the original birth certificate during counseling, they will be disqualified from admission.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have completed or be appearing for any of the following qualifying examinations in 2025:
- 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Central/State Board, including CBSE, ICSE, or other recognized boards.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Exam conducted by a recognized authority.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) – Advanced Level (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka).
- Cambridge University High School Certificate Examination or International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with relevant subject requirements.
- Senior Secondary School Examination from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with at least five subjects.
- Candidates who have studied abroad must provide an equivalence certificate proving their examination is equivalent to Class 12, along with a grade/CGPA to percentage conversion certificate.
Additional Notes:
- Only candidates from regular, full-time, formal education backgrounds are eligible.
- Candidates who appeared for multiple board exams in the same academic year are not eligible.
- For Indian nationals, appearing for VITEEE 2025 is mandatory to secure admission to B.Tech programs.
- If VITEEE 2025 is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, admission may be based on higher secondary exam marks.
Minimum Qualifying Marks
- Candidates must achieve a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology (PCM/PCB) in their Class 12/Intermediate examinations.
- For candidates belonging to specific categories, the minimum required aggregate is 50%:
- SC/ST candidates
- Candidates from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and the northeastern states (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura)
- A valid community/nativity certificate must be submitted during counseling.
Subject Eligibility for Courses
- Candidates opting for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Aptitude (MPCEA) in VITEEE 2025 can apply for all B.Tech programs.
- Candidates opting for Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Aptitude (BPCEA) OR Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Aptitude (MPCEA) can apply for specific B.Tech programs, including:
