Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test

A Telangana entrance examination used for admission to eligible engineering and other professional programmes. The Engineering paper assesses Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Duration 180 minutes
Frequency Once a year
Questions 160

Overview

For Intermediate students considering engineering colleges in Telangana, the Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TG EAPCET) is an important admission route. The examination is conducted on behalf of the Telangana Council of Higher Education through the university designated for the relevant year. Students applying for the Engineering stream answer questions based on Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, drawing on concepts developed during higher-secondary education. The test assesses whether candidates can recognise relevant principles, perform calculations and arrive at correct answers within a limited period.

The Engineering paper places particular emphasis on Mathematics, which contributes half of the total questions. Physics and Chemistry make up the remaining half. Students therefore need more than familiarity with textbook examples: they must recognise different question formats, solve problems accurately and manage their examination time. After results are declared, candidates must also understand how ranks, eligibility conditions, reservation rules and counselling preferences affect their available college options. A strong examination result is valuable, but completing the subsequent admission steps correctly is equally important.

Students beginning their Intermediate education can develop these abilities gradually alongside their regular MPC coursework. At Gyanville Academy, Hyderabad, the MPC programme brings Intermediate Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry together with preparation for engineering entrance examinations, including TG EAPCET and IIT-JEE. The programme also introduces students to additional learning opportunities through its broader academic model. Students and parents can explore the MPC programme to understand its learning structure and facilities, while using this page as an independent reference for TG EAPCET examination and admission information.

Preparation Tips

Effective preparation strategies for success

Start with the Intermediate Syllabus

Identify the concepts that overlap with entrance preparation.

Give Mathematics Consistent Attention

Its larger share of the paper makes regular practice important.

Understand Physics Before Memorising Formulas

Learn when and why a principle applies.

Revise Chemistry in Smaller Topic Groups

Combine conceptual review with question practice.

Maintain a Formula and Error Notebook

Record important relationships and recurring mistakes.

Practise Mixed-Subject Sessions

Learn to switch between numerical and conceptual questions.

Attempt Timed Papers

Develop familiarity with the complete three-hour examination.

Review Accuracy by Subject

Overall marks alone may hide an important weakness.

Understand the Computer-Based Interface

Practise navigating questions and reviewing responses.

Follow Counselling Announcements

Entrance preparation and admission planning are separate responsibilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this exam

The Engineering paper allocates 80 of its 160 questions to Mathematics. This makes mathematical problem-solving a substantial part of the total score, although Physics and Chemistry remain important.

There is no penalty for incorrect answers under the 2026 pattern. Candidates should attempt questions they can solve first and use any remaining time to review or answer unanswered questions.

Ranking depends on the official scoring, normalisation and tie-resolution rules for that examination year. Students should rely on the published rank rather than estimating it from raw marks alone.

Changes may be permitted only within the official option-entry or editing window. Follow the current counselling instructions rather than assuming preferences can be changed at any time.

No. Fees vary by institution, course and applicable admission category. Check the official fee information and any additional charges before finalising preferences.

Focus on understanding the situation described in each question before selecting a formula. Check units, identify the relevant physical principle and practise interpreting diagrams where applicable.

Try different time allocations during mock tests and review how long you spend on each subject. Your final approach should reflect accuracy, confidence and the time required to complete different question types.
